KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Neighbors in Kalamazoo rallied against gun violence Saturday at the sixth annual Resource and Resilience Rally. This year it was held to pay special remembrance to a local young man killed by gun violence this spring. "It is really about letting folks know about the resources that are available to all of our partners that are here and also letting folks know that we are here," said Gwendolyn Hooker, Founder of Hope Through Navigation who helped organize the rally.

Black Panthers call for recusal of Grand Rapids prosecutor Original

(WOOD) — The Revolutionary Black Panther Party held another rally at Calder Plaza Saturday afternoon, again demanding for prosecutors to reopen the investigation into the shooting death of Da’Quain Johnson. This is the second such rally, with one held in May. At that rally, the party said they wanted the investigation reopened within 30 days. Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker has not reopened the investigation.
