Employment scams have more than doubled from 2024 to 2025, with over 23,000 reports flooding into the Better Business Bureau this year compared to about 11,700 the previous year, according to a new BBB study. The alarming trend shows scammers are getting smarter and targeting job seekers with increasingly sophisticated fake opportunities. Over the past three years alone, nearly 50,000 people have fallen victim to employment and job scams, Juliana O'Rork with the BBB said.
