5.3. Factors Controlling ∑TE, Th/U and Rb/Sr Ratios ∑TE: Trace elements are usually associated with fine-grained sediments and heavy minerals. The low ∑TE or ∑TE values close to that of UCC in the clay fractions and relatively high ∑TE in silt fractions of sediments (Figure 6A; Table 2 and Table 3) imply that the trace elements released during chemical weathering are largely transported away from source rocks.
