Personalized Prehabilitation

Prehabilitation has been shown throughout many studies to improve postoperative surgical outcomes. The concept of prehabilitation makes sense to surgeons: the stronger a patient is physically going into the surgery, the easier it is to recover postoperatively. However, the randomized clinical trial by Cambriel et al,1 selected as one of my Editor’s Choice clinical trials, offers something to the field that has been missing, namely a possible biological mechanism beyond simple functional status.1
