Severe thunderstorm warnings issued for parts of Kansas City metro

A First Warn Weather Day is in place for severe storm potential tonight into Tuesday morning. We are monitoring two potential rounds of storm activity. Make sure to have several ways to receive alerts tonight that would wake you up in the event a warning is issued in your area. Tonight, and Tuesday morning have been upgraded to a First Warn Weather Day for increased chances of severe storms. A level 3/5 risk for severe storms for the western areas, level 2/5 risk for the KC metro and east.

Regular rain & storms persist overnight, lingering flooding impacts for Tuesday morning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The severe weather threat has diminished for Kansas City & a few strong to severe storms remain possible until around 2 AM along the southern border. However, expect ongoing regular light to moderate rain & storms through the rest of the night. We have seen widespread 1″ to 3″ of rain with isolated areas up to 6″ from today’s storms. We may pick up 1″-2″ more isolated areas through the night. Tonight, widespread rain & storm activity continues.

National Weather Service confirms 4 tornadoes from recent slew of storms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - As the most active spring of severe weather in recent memory continues, the National Weather Service has confirmed four additional tornadoes. The NWS says four tornadoes from Sunday afternoon and into early Monday morning in Kansas were confirmed, with the tornadoes ranging in category from EF0 to EF1. Officials say no one was injured in any of the four tornadoes. Wellsville tornado An EF1 tornado hit Wellsville, Kansas, in northwestern Miami County at 4:20 p.m. Sunday.
