Placebo-associated changes in MRI-PDFF and metabolic parameters in MASLD patients from phase Ib/IIa clinical trials: implications for early-phase trial design and translational endpoint interpretation
Abstract Background: The placebo effect in early-phase metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) trials is poorly defined but may substantially influence endpoint interpretation and proof-of-concept decisions. A ≥30% relative reduction in magnetic resonance imaging–proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) is an established noninvasive surrogate of histologic improvement.

Confirmation of Tuberculous Meningitis Using Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing: A Case Report
Abstract Background Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) remains a significant clinical challenge due to limitations in traditional diagnostic methods, such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis and tuberculosis culture, which often have long turnaround times and low sensitivity and specificity.
Confirmation of Tuberculous Meningitis Using Metagenomic Next-Generati
Background Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global public health concern, ranking as the 13th leading cause of death worldwide and the second leading cause of infectious mortality. According to the 2023 World Health Organization Global Tuberculosis Report, approximately 10.6 million cases of TB were reported globally in 2022, including 6 million adult males, 3.4 million adult females, and 1.2 million children.

Food web efficiency in desert streams
Top-down influence on food web efficiency We assessed the hypothesis that top predators induce consistent and predictable responses at lower trophic levels (Hairston et al. 1960). We did not observe a relationship between variation in top trophic position and food web efficiency across sites, a result consistent with studies finding that strong top-down effects of predators are uncommon or co-mediated by other factors (Power 1992).
Comparative study of serum sample preparation methods in aggregation-based plasmonic sensing
Comparative study of serum sample preparation methods in aggregation-based plasmonic sensing The use of nanoparticle-based colorimetric methods has received considerable attention in a broad range of clinical and biomedical applications due to their high sensitivity, low cost, extreme simplicity and excellent analytical performance.
Effect of early and late prenatal vitamin D and maternal asthma status on offspring asthma or recurrent wheeze
Background Childhood asthma developmental programming is complex. Maternal asthma is a strong risk factor for childhood asthma, whereas vitamin D (VD) has emerged as a modifiable prenatal exposure. Objective Our aim was to examine the combined effect of early and late prenatal VD status in during pregnancies in women with and without asthma on childhood asthma or recurrent wheeze development.
