With a few late — or sleepless — nights left of the semester, many Emersonians have already left Boylston Street for whatever their summer has in store: quiet time at their family’s house, working some job or internship, or flying to another country to “study” abroad for a few months. If you’re still packing up your dorm room, this one’s for you — from me, your local Resident Assistant.

From the old practice rooms in Colonial Building, to the Semel Theater, to the Robert J. Orchard Stage at the Paramount Center, Emerson Urban Dance Theatre has performed at Emerson College for two decades. But their first ever stage was just a small multipurpose room in the Max. Started by just a group of friends in 2006, EUDT has grown bigger than even the founder’s dreams.

Last week, we — Iselin Bratz, the current Editor-in-Chief, and Meg Richards, last semester’s EIC — held a focus group with six students from various corners of Emerson. We did so to learn more about what students care about on campus and how The Beacon can improve our reporting as student journalists. Our inaugural focus group hosted students from the School of Film, the School of Communication, and the School of Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies.
