Have you ever used a typewriter?
I'm millennial hipster filth, but this is one stereotype I defy. I used my grandma's typewriter once and then decided it was not for me.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Telling the truth and pissing off the right people for it.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
A computer, caffeine, and decades of therapy.
What's your favorite social network?
None. I can't wait until I have Enya money and can live alone in a castle with a bunch of cats.
Who do you wish followed you?
Nobody. I have an itchy pepper spray finger. Please stay more than one car length behind me at any given time.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No. I was quoted once, though.
When's the best time to pitch you?
When I'm in a good mood.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I love all my children equally but I love the one where I was asked to go day drinking with goats the most equally.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I've actually been lucky since they're almost all good, they're just not always relevant to my beats/experience or accepted by my editors.
What's your favorite drink?
Caffeine
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Mental Floss
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The whole conspiracy theory that us media types are being paid off by George Soros. Pfft. I WISH. I could pay off the rest of my mortgage.
