Carbon nanodots (CNDs) are zero-dimensional nanoparticles mainly composed of carbon and with a size ranging from some nanometers to several dozens of nanometers [1]. These CNDs can be obtained from different sources including waste [2], [3], synthetic precursors [4] and biomass [5]. Synthetic chemical and physical methodologies for CNDs are typically categorized into two main methods: top-down and bottom-up.
