Mike has been actively programming and monitoring scanners in eastern Kansas since 1996 when he received his very first scanner as a birthday present. His interest in scanners began at an early age due to his grandmother listening to one in her home for as long as Mike can remember.
Mike owns and operates four digital scanners, two analog scanners, two amateur radio transceivers, three Canon DSLRs, a handful of Canon lenses, three computers, an omnidirectional multi-band antenna mounted on his home's roof, and a tri-band (transmit/receive) antenna on his car. He has been an FCC-licensed amateur radio operator since 2015, and his callsign is KØGKU.
Mike is a lifelong Shawnee resident with no plans of moving away. He has extensive knowledge of Douglas and Johnson counties in Kansas, Covering and sharing information on breaking news and weather throughout the Kansas and Missouri area is a real passion in his life.
When he's not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his nieces, digital photography of aircraft, animals, sports, nature, weather, emergency vehicles, and whatever else catches his attention.
