JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Summer started June 21, but temperatures have been mostly below average. A prolonged heat wave is set to arrive Monday, June 29 and last through at least Thursday, July 2. Heat index values are set to soar over 100°, with many days seeing peaks between 105°-110°. According to the National Weather Service, heat is the top killer among all weather related fatalities.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Saturday, June 13 is a first Alert Weather Day for the threat of strong to severe storms in Region 8. While not everyone will observe severe weather, a few storms may bring damaging wind gusts, hail, and even a brief tornado to the area. Risk Area Timing: Saturday morning is expected to start dry with storm chances building through the early afternoon. By 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. storms should fire in South central Missouri and push Southeast into Region 8.
