A special season on the hardwood for St. John’s Jesuit continued on Saturday with not only a win over rival St. Francis de Sales, but a district championship as well. The Titans used an efficient offense and a strong third quarter to get the separation they needed to knock off the Knights 70-52 in a Division II district boys basketball final at Central Catholic High School. “We know we just had to get open shots and bang them,” St. John’s senior Coy Hamic said.

Genoa boys basketball finishes strong to top Paulding for 1st district title in 30 years

NAPOLEON — An unbeaten and cohesive Genoa boys basketball team showed how much of a winning mentality it has late in Friday’s matchup against Paulding. It led to a historic moment that hasn’t happened for the Comets in 30 years. After trailing for three-plus quarters, Genoa broke through to take its first lead with 5:15 left and never let it go as the Comets outlasted the Panthers 56-51 in a Division V district final at Napoleon High School.

All-district girls basketball: Pike, Skiver, Thames among area players receiving top honors

A handful of area players and coaches received the top honors in their respective divisions as the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association released its 2025-26 All-Northwest District girls basketball teams on Thursday. Anthony Wayne was the recipient of multiple awards in Division II as senior Leah Pike was named player of the year, while the Generals’ Chandler Adams shared coach of the year honors with Start’s Dane Franklin.
