Toledo's Dura Building could become local landmark
A local real estate development company hopes to bring new life to a Toledo warehouse building while honoring its industrial roots. On Thursday, the Toledo City Plan Commission unanimously approved a local landmark designation for the Dura Building at 4500 N. Detroit Ave. The designation will help the building’s owner, IBC Inc., qualify for state and federal historic tax credits, said Julie Apt, with Thomas Porter Architects.

Sal Stewart homers as Reds hold off Chicago White Sox for a 9-8 win
CHICAGO — Sal Stewart, Eugenio Suárez and Tyler Stephenson homered, and the Cincinnati Reds held off the Chicago White Sox for a 9-8 victory on Thursday. Stewart scored four times and Suárez drove in four runs as Cincinnati took the rubber game in the three-game series. Tejay Antone (2-0) pitched a scoreless inning for the win, and Julian Garcia worked a shaky ninth for his second save. Randal Grichuk had three RBIs for Chicago, which had won three of four.
Tigers shut out Guardians without a strikeout, a first in MLB since 2014
DETROIT — Keider Montero pitched three-hit ball into the seventh inning and the Detroit Tigers blanked the Cleveland Guardians 3-0 on Thursday despite failing to record a strikeout. The Tigers became the first team to blank an opponent without a strikeout since Rick Porcello did it to the Athletics on July 1, 2014. The feat has only been accomplished seven times since 2000. Montero (9-7) allowed one walk over 6 1/3 innings, holding the Guardians scoreless despite not recording a strikeout.
Oregon amendment advances as organizers plan more data center ballot measures
Oregon voters are set to consider a proposed charter amendment banning large data centers in the city after organizers met the signature requirement to make the ballot. LaVera Scott, director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, said supporters submitted 1,684 valid signatures. The minimum number required to make the ballot is 1,369 — or 10 percent of the votes cast in the city’s last mayoral election.
