Your Never-Ending Eversource Or UI Bill - VOTE August 13th
Please Follow us on Gab, Minds, Telegram, Rumble, Gettr, Truth Social, Twitter I hope everyone is as excited about the November election as I am after a very different and humble message from President Trump as he accepted his endorsement. While we will delve into that exceptional message another time, there is a pressing issue for Connecticut voters - YOUR ENERGY BILLS. There was a time when the Bill had 2 lines - Supply Costs to make the energy and Transmission Costs to deliver it.
Bankruptcy Court Rejects Settlement “Lockup” Provision | JD Supra
In In re Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A.1 Judge Martin Glenn recently held that a “lockup” provision in certain settlement agreements was unenforceable under section 1125 of the Bankruptcy Code because settling creditors were provided insufficient information regarding plan treatment and there was no “out” for settling creditors to terminate the lockup.
How It All Started
My family company, Cadillac Machinery, was a used machinery dealer specializing gear machinery, especially bevel gear equipment, so we knew first-hand how unique and sometimes insular the gear industry was. As a member of AGMA, I often attended AGMA events, including the Fall Technical Meeting, where tremendous knowledge was presented, year after year, about the latest research, technology and manufacturing approaches for gears. And there were other technical conferences.
Binge Watching for Gearheads
We've decided to install a man-cave at our office here at Randall Publications. Comfy chairs, surround sound, flat screen, the works. We're going all out, because we have some important watching to do. But before you get the wrong idea, we're not goofing off and binge-watching Stranger Things. No, we're watching Gear Technology TV. What Do You Think
Last issue, we promised you a redesigned Gear Technology—bigger, better and delivered more often than before. Well, here it is, the first of the eight completely redesigned issues we’ll be sending you in 2007. Aside from the cosmetic changes—the new logo, typefaces, redesigned table of contents, and so forth—we had specific goals in mind. One of them was to expand on the educational focus that has made us the industry’s publication since 1984.
A Wellspring of Opinion
For more than 22 years, I’ve been dropping rocks down the well of the gear industry’s public opinion. Most every issue, I drop another rock. Sometimes I think I hear a faint splash, but most times I just wait. However, my editorial in the November/December 2005 issue (“Is Gear Expo Worth It?”) splashed so hard and so loud, it seems like the water is ready to gush over the top.
Paying the Tab
The U.S. economy has been out of kilter for some time. But Uncle Sam isn't going to bail you out. You're going to have to do it yourself.
What's In a Name
As most of you know by now, the trade show formerly known as Gear Expo is now the Motion + Power Technology Expo. If you're a gear-industry veteran, you might be confused by this change. If you've been coming to the show for years - or exhibiting at it - you might even feel a little betrayed. But I'm here to tell you it's going to be alright. Navigating Uncharted Waters in Cyberspace

The Graying of the Gear Industry
The gear industry is getting old, fast. I was struck by that fact at Gear Expo, where most of the people I saw at the show had gray or white hair. Of course, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. More and more people in the industry have told me they’ve tried to retire, but their companies keep offering them incentives to stay on—as consultants or part-timers—whatever it takes to keep them working. A similar group of people probably work at your own company.
Industry Shows Shift Emphasis
Home » Industry Shows Shift Emphasis A change has taken place within the industry that is going to have an enormous effect on the marketing, sales, and purchasing of gear manufacturing and related equipment. This change was the American Gear Manufacturers' Association, first biennial combination technical conference and machine tool minishow.
Relief Valve
Some of the pressure on American manufacturers seems to be letting up. This is welcome relief, considering the squeeze they have been under for the past few years.
Spreading The Word
Home » Spreading The Word Long-time readers of these pages will know that I have always felt strongly about the subject of professional education. There's nothing more important for an individual's career development than keeping up with current technology. likewise, there's nothing more important that a company can do for itself and it employees than seeing to it they have the professional education they need.
Boom or Bust - Are You in the Right Markets
Home » Boom or Bust - Are You in the Right Markets Over the past few months we've talked with a lot of gear manufacturers. Many of them tell us business is strong, while others are struggling with reduced demand. The difference between them isn't so much in the quality of their manufacturing operations, but rather trends in the end markets they serve. What the Internet Means To Your Gear Business
Home » What the Internet Means To Your Gear Business What the Internet Means To Your Gear Business Let's face it. Erosion of Knowledge
Publisher & Editor-in-Chief Michael Goldstein No matter how hard you plant your feet or grip your toes, you can’t hold on to the sand. It just flows away right from under you. In many ways that sand is like knowledge and experience of our graying manufacturing workforce. It seems inevitable that much of that knowledge is being washed away. The reason I’m waxing poetic — and thinking about beaches — is that I had lunch with an old friend the other day.
Getting With The Program
Home » Getting With The Program Getting and keeping a work force capable of meeting the demands of the 21st century is one of the key challenges most U.S. manufacturers face today. That's not even news anymore. I - and others - have been talking about it in editorials and speeches for ten years now. It's also not news that the job is a tough one and that industry-wide response often has not been particularly effective.
Cracking the WIP

Each of these manufacturers has come to the realization that in order to stay competitive, he needs to streamline operations and become more efficient...
Step Right Up and Have Your Fortune Told
Publisher & Editor-in-Chief Michael Goldstein Most companies spend this time of year crystal ball gazing. Managers want to know the future so they can make projections, plan schedules, determine budgets and make major decisions that will ensure their success. It would be nice if you could just put on your swami hat and know what was going to happen, but it doesn't work that way. The best you can do is identify what might happen, weigh the risks and costs of various outcomes and plan accordingly.

A Different Truth
Vietnam is the war Americans don’t like to talk about. Even today, many of us struggle to understand the what and the why of that war. We remember the protests, the atrocities, the way our soldiers were treated. Even as wars go, it was an ugly war. It’s also the one we lost. Many of you are probably about my age. That means you either had to fight in that war, or you knew people who did—or, like me, you were old enough, but lucky enough not to have to go.
The Premise and the Promise

Since 1984, Gear Technology has provided you with relevant and practical information about the design, manufacturing, processing, inspection and use of gears.
