Learn more about Muck RackI am a New York-based entertainment journalist and author. My research -- much of it done at the fabulous Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts -- resulted in the best-selling books LUCY A TO Z: THE LUCILLE BALL ENCYCLOPEDIA and THE ABC MOVIE OF THE WEEK COMPANION.
I've written four shorter books about what I like to call the Lucyverse: THE LUCILLE BALL QUIZ BOOK (the only one out there), THE LUCY BOOK OF LISTS, THE COMIC DNA OF LUCILLE BALL: INTERPRETING THE ICON, and LUCY IN PRINT. …
As the Managing Editor of Graphic Arts Monthly, my favorite part of the job was writing and researching the monthly column, "How'd They Print That?" Any printed piece I saw on TV, in the movies, or in advertising, books and so on, I could just call up the company or its reps and they'd send me copies to review. The winning column spotlighted a unique book that involved a special printing and binding process — a metaphor for the subject of the book itself — and was itself a plea for tolerance (and a fundraiser) for those with AIDS.
