Jul. 6—SPICER — Gordy Nilsen and Nikki Paradis were the top runners at the Green Lake Road Race on Sunday. Nilsen, 21, raced to a first-place finish in 1 hour, 6.35 minutes in the 12-mile race. He was last year's runner-up behind Drew Paradis, who was runner-up Sunday, and is from Evergreen, Colorado. Nikki Paradis, 37, won in 1:16.58. She is from Alexandria and placed third last summer. A two-person relay, a four-person relay and a two-person family relay were also featured.

Jul. 6—GRANITE FALLS — Montevideo held off Post 69 in the seventh inning to win on Monday night. Post 59 won 8-6 against Granite Falls in the American Legion baseball game at Richter Field. Montevideo built up an 8-3 lead and Griffin Epema kept Granite Falls at bay in his relief outing. Epema, a University of St. Thomas commit, had five strikeouts and allowed two walks and one hit in three innings to earn the win. He batted 1-for-3 with three steals, one run, an RBI, one walk and a hit-by-pitch.
