James Vessel, 47, and Robin Wells, 42, both of Baton Rouge, were each charged with cruelty to juveniles. Officers with the Baker Police Department were responding to a service call around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, when one of them saw a young boy running on Main Street.

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Police are investigating after a man was injured in a Baton Rouge shooting. Officers were called around 5:48 p.m. June 27 to the 3500 block of Alliquippa Street, where they found a man in the front yard of a home who had sustained a gunshot wound, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. The man was taken to a hospital after suffering injuries that were considered not life-threatening.
