Michael Tarr’s Biography

Following an extensive career marked by accomplishments such as scoring feature film deals with major motion picture studios and developing theatrical feature films in the early 1990s, business executive Michael Tarr turned his sights toward emerging digital streaming technology. Mr. Tarr’s work at the time involved developing fractal and multiple compression streaming videos. Possessing extensive experience in motion pictures, Michael Tarr has worked with prominent entities such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, and CBS Pictures.

Since 2008, Mr. Tarr has devoted his time to projects such as examining the emergence of digital semiotics in the new century. Defined as “the study of signs and symbols as elements of communicative behavior,” semiotics has changed with advancing technology. Since 2008, he has explored global visual language and semiotics and their emergence in the digital age. His work focuses on the latter half of the last century and moves into the current century with the advancement of mobile telephony, the Internet, and social media.

In addition to his work in digital semiotics, Michael Tarr developed a presentation for the Internet and social media about poverty in the United States. His work examines poverty 40 years ago and its growth since then.
