Why did you become a journalist?
I believe in the power of knowledge to drive justice and freedom.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I wrote for the newspaper of Liceo Farina in Vicenza, Il Sole 5 Ore. I remember writing about school trips.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Study a lot and build a strong portfolio focused on the topics you're passionate about.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
The worst pitch I ever received was for covering a football match with no relevant angle or context.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I'm most likely listening to music or traveling.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
A common misconception about human migration is that most people migrate by choice and with ease. Instead, many migrations must leave because of conflicts, persecution, environmental disasters, or severe economic hardship. Another misunderstanding is that migrants are a “burden” on the economies of host countries. At the same time, numerous studies show that they significantly contribute to the societies where they settle, both economically and culturally. Additionally, there is the mistaken belief that most migrants head to Europe or North America when the majority migrate within their region or to neighboring countries.
