Mick Gordon On How He Helped to Make Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2’s Climactic Boss Fight “Big and Bombastic”
If you were making a sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and wanted to inject a bit of extra boom into the boomer shooter, then you probably wouldn’t look any further than Mick Gordon. The legendary Aussie composer has been soundtracking videogames for about two decades, but it was his face-melting work on 2016’s Doom and 2020’s Doom Eternal that really established his monster guitar riffs as the perfect way to fire up fans of first-person shooters.
Doom 2016 Composer Mick Gordon Says "F##k AI"
Aussie composer Mick Gordon is highly regarded for his experimental approach to musical composition. For 2013's Killer Instinct he employed a kangling, a Tibetan instrument traditionally carved into a human femur or tibia, to build a theme for the skeletal Spinal character out of actual bones. For 2016's Doom he famously sampled real chainsaw noises to pull off the unique guitar riffs that elevated the game's soundtrack into a heavy metal masterpiece.

Mick Gordon, the legendary Aussie composer who brought a headbang to every headshot in 2016's Doom and its 2020 follow-up Doom Eternal, has told IGN that he's open to the idea of contributing to future instalments in id Software's iconic shooter series.

It was additionally confirmed Boltgun 2 will also be coming to Switch 2 “shortly after” its debut on other platforms.
Mick Gordon to Perform Doom Soundtrack Live in Concert at RADAR Music Festival
Mick Gordon, the composer of Doom 2016’s award-winning soundtrack, is taking the game’s music on tour for the first time ever — and he’s bringing the Doom Machine with him. Doom 2016 set the standard for the iconic shooter’s musical profile. Famously sampling real chainsaw noises to pull off the unique guitar riffs that made the game’s soundtrack so famous, Gordon’s unorthodox methods have earned him a place in the highest pantheon of gaming legends.

This statement is issued in response to id Software Studio Director Marty Stratton's " DOOM Eternal OST Open Letter ", published on Reddit on May 5, 2020. Marty lied about the circumstances surrounding the DOOM Eternal Soundtrack and used disinformation and innuendo to blame me entirely for its failure. Afterwards, he offered me a six-figure settlement to never speak about it. As far as I'm concerned, the truth is more important.

We’re just three months away from the launch of the next generation of consoles, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It should be a super exciting time, with loads of anticipation for what the new generation will bring to the table and living room. Doom (Original Game Soundtrack) by Mick Gordon
There’s not much of a precedent for music about settlers on Mars discovering a portal to hell, so it must have seemed like quite a unique task for Mick Gordon as he set out to compose original music for Doom.
