When Christopher Bell finished second to Ryan Blaney in the March 8 NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway, no one—particularly Bell—would have predicted that the runner-up finish would be the first of seven, along with no victories, across the season. Unfortunately for Bell, that’s exactly what has happened. The latest second place was recorded Sunday at Iowa Speedway when Bell led 108 laps and seemed on the road to victory only to be foiled by pit-stop strategy in the closing miles.
