Mike Nelson’s Biography

I have been a professional journalist for 45 years, working as an editor, writer, reporter and photographer for daily newspapers, monthly magazines, trade journals and niche publications. My work includes news, feature and profile articles on a variety of topics --- current events; business, sports and entertainment profiles; travel, restaurant and book reviews; and spirituality columns.

What was your first job as a journalist?

When I was 13, I wrote stories about the games my brother's Little League team played for our League's weekly newsletter.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes.

How is social media changing news?

Too many social media participants present opinion as fact. That leads to confusion, suspicion, division and vilification.
