Four Cost-Cutting Areas To Help Your Business Boost Profits
Many businesses focus on selling more products and services to boost profitability. But sales volume alone doesn’t necessarily raise profits. In fact, pushing more sales through a bloated expense structure can result in lower net profits. That’s why it’s important to look at the other side of the ledger — expenses — as you aim to increase profits. A thoughtful way to cut expenses is to conduct a formal expense review. Here are four areas to focus your cost-cutting efforts on: Labor costs.
Spotlight On Auditor Independence
Auditor independence is the cornerstone of the accounting profession. Auditors’ commitment to follow the standards set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) ensures stakeholders can trust that audited financial statements present an accurate picture of the performance and condition of companies.
Auditing Revenue Recognition
The top line of an income statement for a for-profit business is revenue (or sales). Reporting this line item correctly is critical to producing accurate financial statements. Under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), revenue is recognized when it’s earned. With accrual-basis accounting, that typically happens when goods or services are delivered to the customer, not necessarily when cash is collected from the customer.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors BL-82 Review
Old Blood Noise Endeavors’ unique pedals tend to push back at stompbox convention. That’s certainly the case with the BL-82 Chorus Variable Clock Effector. It’s built around a Spin FV-1 digital reverb processor with two delay lines that are modulated by LFOs in opposing cycles. In this configuration, one delay line increases in pitch as the other decreases. And despite lacking stereo output, this novel modulation approach creates very complex chorus sounds in the BL-82.
Supply Chain Cost Saving Strategies
For the manufacturing sector, COVID introduced significant volatility and disruptions to the supply chain starting in late 2019. Manufacturing industry studies and outlooks continue to identify supply chain delays, shortages, and costs as being key challenges to manufacturers in 2023.

Find the Flexibility With Modern Modularity
Point of View Mike Purcell February 01, 2021 In the wake of a year that is commonly — but perhaps understatedly — referred to as “unprecedented,” dining operations of every kind should reevaluate how they’re serving and whether “business as formerly usual” will continue to make sense. Simply put, foodservice operators no longer have the luxury of not thinking about and planning for the unexpected. Mike Purcell, Vice president of sales and marketing LTI Inc.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Defenses to Add for Playoffs
We have made it to Week 14 of the fantasy football season and for most that means the playoffs are here! However, while the goal at the beginning of the year was to make the playoffs, now the goal is to go win that league championship.
Waiver Wire Outlook: Will Fuller Suspension Fallout
Texans wide receiver Will Fuller announced on his Instagram page this afternoon that he has been suspended six game for violating the leagues drug policy stemming from what he says was medication prescribed to him that was on the leagues banned substance list. Fuller was having a career season as the Texans top receiver having caught 53 passes for 879 yards and eight touchdowns through 11 games this season.
NFL Running Back Workloads: Week 3
Published: Oct 02, 2020 This is still Kenyan Drake s backfield as evidenced by the overall touches he is seeing. My one issue with Drake this season is the lack of touchdowns. While it was great to see three red zone carries this season we have also seen Kyler Murray more willing to run the football when in goal to go situations and that is limiting the upside. Brian Hill was a hot waiver pick up this week after he saw a nice uptick in snap percentage this week.
Fantasy Football D/ST Preview: Elite Secondaries
A strong secondary can change an opposing team’s offensive trajectory. You can take away a team’s best wide receiver, force them to run more, or get the flashy play and force some interceptions. If quarterback is the most important position in football, a solid case can be made that cornerback is the second-most important position. Interceptions and even Pick-6’s are sexy for fantasy football so check out the best secondaries in the NFL heading into the 2020 season.
Denver Broncos make several moves to shore up D-line versus Kansas City Chiefs
1h ago The Canadian Press Mike Purcell , The Canadian Press ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos signed nose tackle Kyle Peko off the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad and promoted defensive lineman Deyon Sizer from their own practice squad Saturday because of a rash of injuries along the D-line. To make room on the roster, the Broncos waived outside linebacker Ahmad Gooden and placed rookie receiver Juwann Winfree (hamstring) on IR.
NFL Running Back Workloads: Week 11
Published: Nov 20, 2019 Fellow zero-RBers, our week has finally arrived. Checks calender, and most of us were eliminated from playoff contention last week. Hopefully you have some diversified teams that could use a possible shot in the RB arm. Kenyan Drake , RB ARI - The King is dead in the desert. David Johnson played 9 snaps with no carries. Long live the King. Drake continued to show some burst and logged 61 snaps. Maybe the bye lets DJ heal up. I wouldn’t bet on it, though.
Facing slumping Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos have opportunity to re-enter AFC West race
1h ago The Canadian Press Mike Purcell , The Canadian Press DENVER — Keeping Patrick Mahomes on the sideline has worked wonders for Kansas City's opponents, providing a blueprint for the Broncos on Thursday night as they seek their first win over the Chiefs in four years. "Every game has its own personality," cautioned Broncos coach Vic Fangio. Every team also builds its own reputation, and the Chiefs (4-2) have a dud of a defence to go along with that firecracker offence.
2019 NFL Draft Guide: When to Draft a Tight End
Published: Jul 18, 2019 Ah yes, it has hit that stage of your fantasy draft preparation where you try and figure out exactly what the heck you are going to do at the tight end position. Do you grab one of the elites early and pass up on other skill positions to set yourself apart at the position? Do you look to snag that mid-round sleeper that you think will have themselves a career year? Or, are you the type that says eff-that the tight end will be the last position I fill in?
My Perfect Game: Meet the New General of the Mock Draft Army
Foreword I will forever be grateful for Fantasy Alarm. After years of working as a freelance content provider, they offered me full-time employment, helping me finally achieve my goal of having a career in the fantasy sports industry rather than just a hobby and income supplement. The road was long and sometimes arduous, but as I sit back now and look at how far I’ve come, there are times I truly do need to pinch myself and make sure I am not dreaming.
2019 NFL Draft Guide: IDP League Strategies

2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round 2 Eastern Conference Preview
Columbus Blue Jackets at Boston Bruins The Bruins come into this series at -160 favorites while the Blue Jackets are sitting as +140 underdogs but are the much more rested team. Columbus was able to take care of the Tampa Bay Lightning in a very quick 4-0 and have been off since April 16th. On the other side, the Bruins wrapped up their series the other night over the Leafs 4-3 and have just two days off before this series.
2019 Fantasy Hockey: Waiver Wire Report March 3
The NHL season is in full swing and that means so is fantasy hockey! It’s a long grind to get to the playoffs, and an even tougher challenge to win it all. Like every year, injuries are going to happen to key players, which means we need to be active on the waiver wire. The waiver wire can help you win a championship, so it’s important to add the right players at the right time. Let’s take a look at which players are worth looking adding for the upcoming week.
2018 NFL Week That Was: Week 15
Chris Carson : Chris Carson carried a big load for fantasy players Sunday despite his real team losing a game they should never have lost. Carson rushed 22 times for 119 yards and a TD Sunday. He also contributed in the passing game, hauling in all 6 targets for 29 yards. In PPR, that is a very healthy 26.8 points. With the Chiefs next and the Seahawks needing to control the ball and the clock, Carson will get a ton of run in a game they need to win. I am buying and you should too.
FFPC Pros vs Joes Best Ball Draft Analysis
Bestball season is alive and well. Every day we get closer to the start of season and we learn more about what the season will actually look like. Less speculating, more sure things. Although, nothing is a sure thing, and that’s why we love bestball. No picking your starters. The highest scoring players get to play. No need to sweat out injuries because your other players will step in if necessary. It’s all about the most points and the best insurance policy.
2018 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report: March 8
Each week of the National Hockey League regular season, we will take a look at some of the most interesting names that may appear on the waiver wire in various fantasy leagues. It may be NHL players whose situation has improved because of injury, minor-league players recently recalled (or on the verge of a recall) or off to fast starts in the AHL. Here is this week's batch: 1.
2017 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report: January 18

2017 NFL Surprising Stats To Know: Week 15
We’re in the home stretch, #FANation You’ve done the work. You’re in the hunt. You cannot mess up now. When emotions are high, it is especially important to rely on the facts. Look at the players in your lineup objectively. Try not to out-smart yourself. Per usual, I combed through the data, and pulled some stats that that you need to know heading into the all-important Week 15. Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts Emmanuel Sanders only has two touchdowns on the season.
2017 Fantasy Football Waiver Report: December 5
Week 13 was pretty quiet for injuries, and I expected the waiver wire to be pretty quiet this week as a result. Even if your team’s championship hopes are still alive, it is easy to ignore the waiver wire at this time of year. That may be a mistake. There are plenty of players who can help you, or who at least have more potential than some highly-owned bench fodder who can safely be dropped.
NFL DFS Optimal Lineups: Mon-Thurs (Week 12/13)
Published: Nov 27, 2017 It was quite the interesting week for DFS in Week 12. As we look back at some of the winning lineups, we can see that paying up for running backs was the wrong move. The top-tier quarterbacks -- Tom Brady, Carson Wentz, Russell Wilson -- all hit and then you had massive efforts from Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. Obviously Rob Gronkowski and Zach Ertz were big too.
2017 Fantasy Football IDP Report: Week 4
Plenty of goodness in the linebacker position this week, but not a lot else to crow about. Fortunately, not a bunch of underperformers to highlight either, but as always, way too many injuries to keep the IDP league players happy. Let's get on to the profiles, shall we? Oh, and Jadeveon Clowney is a must add if he somehow is still on your waiver wire, as is Ryan Shazier.
2017 Fantasy Football Running Backs: Surprising Cuts
So the preseason is finally over and the 53-man rosters are set. There were a lot of surprise cuts to RB’s specifically that this piece will focus on. But first… Update on Ezekiel Elliott Zeke was away from the team last week in New York due to his appeal hearing regarding his six-game suspension.
NFL ADP Analysis & Draft Strategy: Love
This week we are going to look into players who, based on their ADP, are currently going lower than they should in drafts. Love/Hate lists have become a big part of the fantasy industry. This week will be the love side of that, with the hate side coming next week, so be sure to tune in for that on July 22. Most of these players are going further down in the draft, and having some guys you can count on with some later picks is very crucial.
Right Wrong or Indifferent: Week 11
Over the past few years during the NFL season, Ted Schuster and I have been doing a segment on the SiriusXM radio show called “Right, Wrong or Indifferent.” Basically what this means is a scorecard for all of the predictions, rankings and recommendations we gave out during the previous week for fantasy football. I feel very strongly about users (readers, listeners, customers, etc) holding fantasy analysts responsible for the information and advice they pass along.
2016 NFL Week 6 IDP Breakdown
Identifying rising IDP is not an exact science, as my recommendation to pick up Michael Wilhoite last week proves. The good news is that there is another LB from San Francisco that you should be targeting this week, as discussed just a few inches below. Plenty of other options to pursue as well if you are in need of some defensive help in your efforts to capture your league's championship, together with a handful of players you should be prepared to move on from also.
Right, Wrong Or Indifferent?: Lessons From Week 17
Another week means another opportunity to sit in judgment of Jeff Mans! I have poured over Jeff’s rankings and opinions and, well, let us see how he did. Oh, and as usual, I will pepper this piece with a few of my own masterpieces and pieces of [use a word for dung] from the past week.
Fantasy Football Injury Report - December 27, 2015
We are officially in championship week as many fantasy leagues will have their titles decided during Week 16. It wouldn’t be a normal fantasy football week without injuries wreaking havoc on GMs and championship week is no different. Good luck to all GMs vying for bragging rights and titles. So without further ado, here is the next edition of the fantasy football walking wounded.
Right, Wrong Or Indifferent?: Lessons From Week 14
Another week means another opportunity to sit in judgment of Jeff Mans! I have poured over Jeff’s rankings and opinions and, well, let us see how he did. Oh, and as usual, I will pepper this piece with a few of my own masterpieces and pieces of [use a word for dung] from the past week.
IDP Report Week 10: Rising, Falling And Injured Defensive Players
Quite a few more injuries to deal with after Week 9 ran its course. At least the league is back to a more manageable number of teams on bye weeks with just Atlanta, Indianapolis, San Diego and San Francisco taking the week off from playing. You really did not want to consider using any 49er in your lineup, anyway, did you? Fortunately, there are plenty of defensive gems that you should seek out to replace your injured or underperforming IDP.
