Nearly 1 in 12 defendants on ankle monitors in Chicago have gone AWOL, authorities say

CHICAGO - Nearly 1 in 12 criminal defendants released pre-trial on ankle monitors in Chicago have gone AWOL, and authorities have no idea where they are, even as some in the program allegedly go on to commit violent crimes. Data from the Circuit Clerk of Cook County shows that 246 out of 3,048 defendants released pre-trial and placed on ankle monitoring are missing and aren't actively wearing their ankle monitor.

USS Dwight D. Eisenhower engages in combat operations off Yemen's coast

On board the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen there are no training missions. Each takeoff is a launch into combat. "We are in constant self-defense out here," said Rear Admiral Marc Miguez, Commander Strike Group 2. Crews are within Houthi striking distance. "They're a scrappy group that, tries very hard with what they have," said Capt. Marvin Scott, Commander Air Wing 3.

Thursday’s seizure of the oil tanker St. Nikolas is a rare example of the Iranian military getting directly involved. It’s also seen as retaliation for the U.S. seizing the very same ship a few months ago. The tanker was formerly named the Suez Rajan.
