The good thing about sport is that you don’t know how it’s going to end. In a decider, it’s that bit that matters, and for New South Wales, it was the rarest of things: a happy ending at Lang Park, winning 30-12 to take the Origin Shield back south. The bad thing is that you don’t get control over it either. This was a game defined by mistakes, misfortune and randomness, too stop-start for a pattern of play to properly emerge.
