What was your first job as a journalist?
Music reviews for a publishing industry magazine. (I liked getting free CDs!)
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yep. Pretended to be bad at typing to garner sympathy from a pretty girl in college. It worked! We ended up getting married later that year.
Why did you become a journalist?
I'm a pop culture nerd, so when I found out I could get paid for watching movies, going to shows, reading comics, and more, well, I was in!

What's the worst pitch you ever got?
A guy at a writer's conference insisted on reciting his awful poetry to me for 15 minutes. I had to reject him four times before he'd leave.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I spend too much time digging through old comic book bins, looking for gems and studying what works and doesn't work in visual storytelling.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I keep going back to ICv2, Publisher's Weekly, and the Wall Street Journal.
