Milli Legrain’s Biography

Milli Legrain is a multilingual digital reporter and producer based in Washington, D.C. Fully trilingual (English,Spanish, French) and fluent in Portuguese, she has twenty years’ experience in communications and journalism in Latin America (Brazil, Mexico and Chile), Europe (Spain and the UK).

The day of the attack on the US Capitol, she reported live on Twitter from downtown Washington D.C. And in 2020 she covered the US election in Spanish from rural Pennsylvania, the state that ultimately gave Joe Biden the election.

She was the Washington Correspondent for the digital arm of Univision - the largest Hispanic media organization in the US- throughout the 2016 election campaign and transition.

She contributes to The Guardian since 2018. Her work has also appeared in Proceso magazine (Mexico), Folha de São Paulo (Brazil), Deutsche Welle (Germany), El Mundo (Spain), The Caravan (India).

During the Covid-19 pandemic she wrote about lack of protections for farm and poultry workers. Prior to that she produced interviews with experts on immigration in Washington D.C for the Discovery Channel.

She has excellent contacts across Latin America and within the Hispanic community in the US. Particular interest in electoral politics, immigration, and human rights. She excels at human interest features and often publishes her own photographs.
