Targeting the eIF4F translation initiation complex disrupts BCR::ABL1 translation and overcomes drug resistance in CML
Abstract Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is driven by the constitutively active BCR::ABL1 kinase, which promotes uncontrolled cell proliferation. Although protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have revolutionized CML treatment, resistance remains a significant barrier to curative therapy, particularly due to BCR::ABL1 mutations and the persistence of leukemia stem cells (LSCs).
In vivo engineering of CAR natural killer cells for immunotherapy using ligand-directed lipid nanoparticles
Abstract Targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) offer a nonviral approach for in vivo cell engineering but efficient programming of natural killer (NK) cells remains underexplored. Here we develop NK cell-targeted LNPs (NtLNPs) using engineered biparatopic NK cell ligands to drive receptor-specific uptake and mRNA delivery. Lead NtLNPs achieve up to ~80% NK cell transfection with minimal off-target effects in mice.
Damaged DNA - Yale Scientific Magazine
For patients with rare genetic disorders, the diagnostic journey can often feel uncertain and frustrating. Meier-Gorlin syndrome (MGS), a form of primordial dwarfism, is one such disorder. Since its first description in 1959, fewer than 150 cases have been reported worldwide. The rarity of MGS has made it difficult to understand its cause. How can genetic mutations produce such strange skeletal and developmental abnormalities?
Long-Lost ‘Star Trek’ Spaceship Model Beams Down to MIT
The Artnet Bulletin is our new daily digest of five items from around the art world that are worth knowing. A different writer takes over each morning. The original USS Enterprise model from Star Trek—which had a journey to rival the galaxy-hopping spacecraft itself—is heading out on view. Created by model-maker Richard Datin Jr. and used in the original series’ 1965 pilot, the 33-inch artifact vanished in the 1970s, only to resurface on eBay in 2023.

Research progress in intratumoral microbiota: unlocking the potential of cancer immunotherapy
Abstract In recent years, intratumoral microbiota (ITM), a crucial component of the tumor microenvironment, have received increasing attention because of their role in cancer immunotherapy. ITM not only influence tumor initiation and progression but also modulate local and systemic immune responses, thereby affecting the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors and other immunotherapeutic approaches.
Multi-fidelity hierarchical neural network for tensile–shear strength prediction in resistance spot welding of dissimilar advanced high strength steels
Abstract The tensile–shear strength (TSS) of resistance spot welding (RSW) joints is a critical quality metric, but accurately and efficiently modelling it across diverse advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) combinations remains challenging. To address this issue, this study proposes a physics-guided hierarchical neural network (HNN) framework in which the nugget diameter is first predicted as an intermediate variable and then embedded into the subsequent TSS prediction model.
Shared immune core genes in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis
Abstract Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) are chronic liver diseases characterized by immune dysregulation, but their shared mechanisms remain unclear. We integrated four GEO liver transcriptomic datasets to identify common differentially expressed genes, functional pathways, immune infiltration patterns, and candidate diagnostic genes.
Tumor-associated macrophages in gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis: orchestrating immune evasion, niche remodeling, and therapeutic resistance
Abstract Peritoneal metastasis is the most devastating form of progression of gastric cancer, characterized by strong immune suppressive properties and resistance to treatment. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are the main population of immune cells in the peritoneal cavity and participate in nearly every step of this process.
Evaluation of teachers’ digital literacy combining survey data and digital platform usage data
ABSTRACT Teachers’ digital literacy is a crucial component of educational innovation and talent cultivation in the digital age. Traditional evaluations have largely relied on self-reported evidence such as questionnaires and interviews. Wt1 Is Required for the Regression of Müllerian Ducts in Male Mice by Inducing Wif1 and Osx Expression
1 Introduction In mammals, the Müllerian ducts (MDs) and Wolffian ducts (WD) are the precursors of the female and male reproductive tracts respectively, and both of them are located within the mesonephroi during early embryonic stage. Following sex differentiation, the Wolffian ducts regress in females, whereas the MDs develop into the female reproductive tract, including the oviduct, uterus, and upper vagina.
Prediction of microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma using contrast-enhanced ultrasound and deep learning
Abstract Microvascular invasion (MVI) is a key prognostic factor in hepatocellular carcinoma but is currently only detectable after surgery. Here, we develop MAPUSE, a deep learning model using contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to predict MVI non-invasively. We train and test the model on 5148 CEUS videos from 1716 patients across multiple centers.

Plasma-state metasurfaces for ultra-intensive field manipulation
|
Abstract High-power lasers offer ultrahigh intensities for plasma interactions, but they lack advanced techniques to control the properties of the fields, because no optical elements could withstand their high intensities. The vibrant field of metasurfaces has transformed modern optics by enabling unprecedented control over light at subwavelength through deliberate design. However, metasurfaces have traditionally been limited to solid-state materials and low light intensities.

The Nude Painting That Scandalized Fort Worth
Now hanging at Schoelkopf Gallery in New York is a sensual nude, created by American painter Ben Johnson in 1957. In it, a female figure reclines languidly, her pale form in contrast to a series of bright color fields aligned along her spine. There’s a curvilinear rhythm to the composition—the color bands pulsing around the subject’s cream-toned silhouette, accented by the backdrop of blazing pink and magenta. It’s a heightened yet intimate scene.

The Icelandic Collective Turning Perfume Into a Multisensory Art Form
In a dim concert hall in Reykjavik, Iceland, a scent blooms. Notes of bergamot mingle with iris and white musk. An ambient tone swells as hypnotic floral forms drift across a large projection. Here, at Fischersund’s scented concert during the Reykjavik Arts Festival, it’s hard to tell where one sensory experience ends and another begins. Since 2017, the Icelandic perfumery and art collective has built an entire practice around making scent tangible through music and visual storytelling.

Inside the Unlikely Bond Between Lucian Freud and Kate Moss
In 2002, Lucian Freud unveiled a surprising portrait: a full-length work of a naked and pregnant Kate Moss splayed out on a narrow cot, executed with an unflinching intensity. Freud rarely painted celebrities—he famously turned down Princess Diana—but had made an exception for Moss. Even more unexpected, though, was the unlikely friendship that blossomed between the elder artist and the supermodel.

TRIM5 integrates hypoglycemic stress and influenza infection
Abstract The role of glucose restriction in host antiviral defense remains elusive. Here, we investigate the impact of pre-existing hypoglycemia on host susceptibility to influenza infections. We find that mouse models with intermittent hypoglycemia exhibit heightened vulnerability to influenza A virus (IAV) infections at low to moderate exposure levels. This vulnerability is attributed to reduced expression of TRIM5 in the lung subsequent to hypoglycemic stress.
Toxoplasma gondii hijacks host S100A6 to enhance cell migration and brain cyst formation
Abstract Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) has the ability to disseminate widely in the host, including crossing the blood brain barrier (BBB) to establish persistent brain cysts. However, the molecular mechanism by which T. gondii hijacks host immune cell migration to facilitate its own dissemination remain incompletely understood. Here we show that T.
