Arctic cloud condensation nuclei enhanced by iodine, sulfur and organic precursors
Abstract New particle formation is an important source of Arctic atmospheric particles and cloud condensation nuclei, yet their precursor sources and molecular-level mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we report comprehensive ship-based observations from 19 May to 26 June 2022 from southeastern to western Greenland and into the Davis Strait’s marginal ice zone to investigate sources and processes controlling atmospheric particles and cloud condensation nuclei.
Asymmetric bubble-mediated gas transfer enhances global ocean CO2 uptake - Nature Communications
Abstract Sea-air carbon dioxide (CO2) flux is typically estimated from the product of the gas transfer velocity (K) and the CO2 fugacity difference between the ocean surface and atmosphere. Total gas exchange comprises interfacial transfer across the unbroken surface and bubble-mediated transfer from wave breaking.

Author Correction: Enhanced ocean CO2 uptake due to near surface temperature gradients - Nature Geoscience
Correction to: Nature Geoscience https://www.nature.com/articles/s41561-024-01570-7, published online 25 October 2024. In the version of the article originally published there was an error within the FluxEngine v4.0.7 software tools in the calculation of the fugacity of CO2 in the atmosphere (fCO2 (atm)). The error caused the fCO2 (atm) to be ~1 μatm higher (~0.2 %) across all the indirect bulk air–sea CO2 flux calculations, which are presented in Fig. 2, Fig.
Does Farmers’ Participation in Skills Training Improve Their Livelihood Capital? An Empirical Study from China
1. Introduction Agriculture, rural areas, and farmers’ issues have long been key concerns for both the Party and the State, representing urgent challenges that require resolution [1]. These issues are fundamental to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country and the realization of Chinese-style modernization.
Enhanced ocean CO2 uptake due to near-surface temperature gradients - Nature Geoscience
Abstract The ocean annually absorbs about a quarter of all anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Global estimates of air–sea CO2 fluxes are typically based on bulk measurements of CO2 in air and seawater and neglect the effects of vertical temperature gradients near the ocean surface. Theoretical and laboratory observations indicate that these gradients alter air–sea CO2 fluxes, because the air–sea CO2 concentration difference is highly temperature sensitive.

Performance and Capacity Optimization for High Speed Railway Communications Using UAV-IRS Assisted Massive MIMO System
Abstract : In this paper, we study the communication performance of applying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) combined with intelligent reflective surfaces (IRS) in a high speed railway (HSR) scenario. This study investigates the design and performance of (multiple-input-multiple-output) MIMO systems with UAV and IRS assistance technology in high-mobility scenarios. Direct links between base stations (BS) and trains are often obstructed in suburban environments, especially in mountainous areas.
Brain-targeted Ginkgolide B-modified Carbonized Polymer Dots for Alleviating Cerebral Ischemia Reperfusion Injury
Brain-targeted Ginkgolide B-modified Carbonized Polymer Dots for Alleviating Cerebral Ischemia Reperfusion Injury Mingxi Yang, Xin Wei, Kaibo Pan, Zeli Zhou, Yang Liu, Xiaodan Lv and Bai Yang Abstract Ischemic stroke (IS) is the leading cause of death in the world, and there is still a lack of effective treatments. Ginkgolide B (GB) can antagonize platelet activating factor receptor and has shown significant curative effect on cerebral ischemia.
Simulation and design of a high-speed and high-power modified uni-traveling carrier photodiode based on the electric field distribution in the depletion region
Abstract A modified uni-traveling carrier photodiode with an electric field control layer is proposed to achieve high-speed and high-power performance at a lower bias voltage. By inserting the 10 nm p-type InGaAs electric field control layer between the intrinsic absorption layer and space layer, the electric field distribution in the depleted absorption layer and depleted non-absorption layer can be changed.
S-Doped carbonized polymer dots inhibit early myocardial fibrosis by regulating mitochondrial function
S-Doped carbonized polymer dots inhibit early myocardial fibrosis by regulating mitochondrial function† Yiran Wang,‡a Mingxi Yang,‡bc Jiayi Zhang,b Jingyan Ren,b Ning Liu,a Bin Liu, *a Laijin Lu*b and Bai Yang *c Abstract Myocardial fibrosis (MF) is a critical pathological lesion in the progression of various acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases. However, there is still a lack of clinically effective drugs and treatments for MF therapies.
Natural variability in air-sea gas transfer efficiency of CO2
Abstract The flux of CO2 between the atmosphere and the ocean is often estimated as the air–sea gas concentration difference multiplied by the gas transfer velocity (K660). The first order driver for K660 over the ocean is wind through its influence on near surface hydrodynamics. However, field observations have shown substantial variability in the wind speed dependencies of K660. In this study we measured K660 with the eddy covariance technique during a ~ 11,000 km long Southern Ocean transect.

Osteogenic Potential of Zn2+-passivated Carbon Dots for Bone Regeneration in Vivo
Osteogenic Potential of Zn2+-passivated Carbon Dots for Bone Regeneration in Vivo Carbon dots is a new kind of nanomaterial which has great potential for biomedical application. Previously, we have synthesized novel Zn2+-passivated carbon dots (Zn-CDs) which showed good osteogenic activity in vitro. In this study, we will further investigate the osteogenic effects of Zn-CDs in vivo which is essential before clinical use.
