Miriam Taylor’s Biography
Miriam Taylor grew up in the deep South. Think chicken-fried everything. Her love of storytelling, both written and visual, began early while sitting around her grandmother's long dining table listening to tales from her immediate and extended family.
Miriam graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Journalism, as well as a minor in Art (emphasis in graphic design). During her time at Ole Miss, Miriam worked as both a writer and designer for The Daily Mississippian (newspaper), The Ole Miss (yearbook), and The Delta Poverty Project (2011 magazine edition). While in college Miriam interned for Rolling Stone Magazine and House Beautiful Magazine. She also interned at Thacker Mountain Radio, a weekly live-radio show in Oxford, Miss. aired on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
From the flat lines of the Missississippi Delta Miriam moved to the colorful (and cold!) hills of Central New York. She received her master's in Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While at SU Miriam designed and wrote for multiple campus publications. She also taught introduction to graphic design to undergraduate students at SU. Over the winter, she interned at Harper's Bazaar Magazine in their art department.
From Syracuse Miriam moved to the bright lights of Manhattan where she worked as the Production Associate for Fast Company Magazine. While there Miriam contributed to the interactive "Generation Flux" cover which won the Gold Medal for App Cover by the Society of Publication Designers. Miriam recently moved back South where she now works as the marketing director and brand consultant for Wealthview Capital, LLC.
Miriam is first and foremost a storyteller, whether that's telling her story, a company's story, or the story of the saxophonist down the street.
