What was your first job as a journalist?
While attending Simon Fraser University, I was a staff writer at the SFU newspaper, The Peak.
How is social media changing news?
Social Media has conditioned people to expect news immediately. Gone are the days of sharing updates about something new a week later.
Why did you become a journalist?
My father was a high school teacher and freelance writer for our local city newspaper. I alwsys knew I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Honestly, any time! I am always open to receiving pitches, no matter what day or time it is.
What's your favorite drink?
I can't choose just one. In the morning, it's definitely coffee! Once work is done, I love nothing more than a glass of full-bodied red wine.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I love Travel + Leisure. They always have gorgeous photography and well-written, interesting stories. Every issue stirs up my wanderlust.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I believe the biggest misperception about travel is that it is expensive. There are many ways to travel in a cost-effective manner.
