Moth-flame optimized UNet++ with self-attention for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease prediction using multimodal input
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a slowly progressing, irreversible neurodegenerative condition that is characterized by the loss of neurons and brain tissue over time. Its impact on patients, caregivers, and society is significant. AD usually results in an inability to carry out daily activities, extensive cognitive impairment, and death. The disease progresses slowly, with symptoms often mistaken for normal aging or minor forgetfulness.
Prognostic implications of microRNA-107 in esophageal cancer: a retrospective cohort study
This retrospective cohort study was approved by the Ethics Committee of The Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (No. 251178), and verbal informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to their inclusion in this study. Tumor tissues (n = 66) and paired adjacent non-cancerous tissues (n = 28) were collected from ESCC patients who underwent radical esophagectomy at Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command between January 2010 and December 2012.
Diosgenin biosynthesis pathway and its regulation in Dioscorea cirrhosa L.
Four types of tubers, LR (light red), RD (red), DR (dark red), and BR (brownish red), each with distinct colors, were collected from the natural habitat located in the hilly region of Shunde, Guangdong Province, China (112.65°E, 22.88°N). The color gradient of the tubers was compared using color cards, which were easily visible (Fig. 1). Three independent biological replicates were used in this study.
Quantitative trait loci associated with straighthead-resistance used for marker assisted selection in rice (Oryza sativa L.) RIL populations
Genotyping and genetic analysis DNA was extracted from each RIL of the two populations and their parents following the CTAB method described by Hulbert & Bennetzen (1991). The straighthead-linked markers, namely, RM282, RM225, RM2, AP3858-1, and RM206, were used to screen the RILs of the two populations. DNA amplification was performed as previously described (Pan et al., 2012). As to genotyping, alleles corresponding to resistant or susceptible parents were noted as “a” or “b,” respectively.
A systematic review on the use of the emotion thermometer in individuals diagnosed with cancer
Abstract Objective Physiological and psychological sequelae are frequent after a cancer diagnosis and also on the long term. Screening could help detect psychological distress early and thus enable timely provision of adequate treatment. The emotion thermometer (ET) is a validated screening tool including five dimensions (distress, anxiety, depression, anger, and need‐for‐help). Reviewing the literature, we aimed to describe (a) the validity and (b) the application of the ET.
