Abstract Effective apology behavior design has become increasingly important as social robots continue to be integrated into daily environments. Previous studies conducted in Japan suggest that when multiple robots apologize together, people tend to feel greater acceptance and trust than when only a single robot apologizes. However, it remains unclear whether (1) these findings hold in other cultural contexts and (2) how many robots are suitable for effective apologies.
