Car Crashes Into Fort Lauderdale Assisted Living Facility
A car crashed into the side of a housing complex in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday morning. The crash happened near the corner of Southwest 31st Avenue and 12th Place around 11 a.m. The car was driving southbound on 31st Avenue when it somehow lost control, went through the gate, and slammed right into the building. The driver of the Toyota Carolla was not hurt and was not charged for the accident. According to officials, the building is an assisted living facility called Joan’s Transitional Housing.

Mother Accused of Abandoning Her 5-Month-Old Baby at Miami Restaurant
A mother is now behind bars after police say she abandoned her baby at a restaurant in Downtown Miami. This happened at the Aura Bistro Cafe, which is inside the Riverfront highrise apartment complex on SW 3th Street. On Monday morning, Tiffany Giron appeared in bond court. The 20-year-old was arrested on multiple charges including child neglect. On Saturday night around 11 p.m., someone saw a baby left alone outside the Aura Bistro Café. They immediately called 911.

A fight on a Broward County bus ended in a fatal stabbing on train tracks in Fort Lauderdale and a suspect behind bars, police said. A South Florida Jewish organization dropped off dozens of boxes of supplies that came from the surplus pile of the Surfside building collapse donations. "We thought, wow, we got some stuff that you guys could really use," said Bonnie Schwartzbaum. Men Charged in 2016 Murder of FIU Student Appear in Court
Nearly five years later, police say they found men responsible for shooting and killing an FIU student. 25-year-old Donterio Fowler and 23-year-old Keondre Fields were arrested for the shooting death of 21-year-old Michael Zaldua. The shooting happened in December of 2016, at the 4th Street Commons parking garage on Southwest 4th Street, just blocks away from FIU's Modesto A. Madique Campus.
Man Accused of Driving Into a Group of Cyclists That Included Children
Witnesses say they saw Jean Rene drive his car into a group of 80 cyclists. “She had to jump off her bicycle, her bicycle was dragged 10 streets by a man who did not care if she lived or died. We saw one of our members airlifted to a hospital," a witness described in a bond court hearing the moment he saw a fellow cyclist struck by an SUV. Teen Court is where youth offenders can get a second chance. Where they can possibly avoid jail time and avoid having a record. “It really makes you think about the consequences of your actions when you commit certain things," Danny Felton said. Felton is 18-years-old and a teen court volunteer.
