Compound heterozygous RHCE null genotype underlying D−− phenotype in a Chinese pregnant woman: molecular characterization and sequential transfusion strategy
Abstract The D−− phenotype is an extremely rare Rh blood group variant with absence of C, c, E, and e antigens but preserved D expression, predisposing to anti-Rh17 alloimmunization and hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn (HDFN). We report a 25-year-old Chinese woman (gravida 3, para 1) with D+C−c−E−e− phenotype and a history of severe neonatal jaundice and fetal demise. In her current pregnancy, admitted at 25+5 weeks for elevated fetal middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity.
Mechanistic insights into phosphorylation-driven activation and therapeutic inhibition of human ATR–ATRIP
Abstract The ATR–ATRIP complex regulates the DNA replication stress and is targeted in cancer therapy, but the molecular mechanisms of its activation and inhibition have remained unclear.
Divergence between physical and emotional heat resilience in Chinese cities
Abstract Under increasingly frequent urban heatwaves, public emotional responses do not always align with levels of physical heat exposure, but the relationship between the two remains unclear. Here, using social media and meteorological data, we quantify the mismatch between physical heat exposure and public emotional responses from 2010 to 2024 in China, identify its drivers and project this relationship under different shared socioeconomic pathways.
A 5.0 T Ultra-High-Field fMRI Dataset for Naturalistic Visual Scene Processing
Abstract Modeling neural responses under naturalistic visual stimulation is an important goal in computational neuroscience and brain-computer interface research. Progress in this area depends on neuroimaging datasets that combine repeated measurements, shared stimulus anchors, and sufficient stimulus diversity for evaluating encoding and decoding models. Here, we present the Natural Vision Dataset (NVD), a publicly available 5.0 T fMRI dataset designed for static natural-image viewing.

Interpretable machine learning model for predicting kidney failure among CAKUT children in multicenter large-scale study
|
Abstract Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) are the leading cause of pediatric kidney failure, but predicting individual progression remains challenging. This multicenter study developed and validated POCC, a machine learning model for predicting kidney failure risk at 1, 3, and 5 years post-diagnosis in CAKUT patients. Two versions were created using data from 2249 children.

Efficacy and safety of toripalimab in combination with cetuximab in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC): a phase 1b/2 study
|
Abstract This open-label, multicenter, phase 1b/2 trial assessed the safety and efficacy of toripalimab plus cetuximab in patients with platinum-refractory (Cohort A) or previously untreated programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-positive (Cohort B) recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC). Patients received toripalimab 240 mg intravenously (IV) every 3 weeks and cetuximab (400 mg/m² loading, then 250 mg/m² weekly maintenance).

Differential risk profiles for geriatric depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances in rural China: insights from the Taierzhuang cohort
Abstract Background: Mental health disorders among older adults in rural China present substantial public health challenges, yet their differential risk factors and practical screening tools remain understudied. Methods: We analyzed data from 4,180 participants in the Taierzhuang Aging Cohort. Using multivariate logistic regression, we identified independent risk factors for depression, anxiety, and insomnia.
Improving seepage characteristics of strongly weathered mudstone slopes with rice husk ash - Scientific Reports
Abstract Strongly weathered mudstone slopes in northern Hebei Province are susceptible to rainfall-induced instability due to their swelling and shrinkage properties. This study investigates rice husk ash (RHA), an agricultural waste byproduct, as an amendment to enhance the seepage characteristics and stability of these slopes.
A silver lining: Perceived organizational career opportunities in the context of perceived overqualification and its outcomes
INTRODUCTION Perceived overqualification—defined as the perception that one's skills, experience, and qualifications exceed the demands of one's job—has become a pervasive career-related stressor (e.g., Erdogan & Bauer, 2021).

Optimization of stochastic ANN models for intelligent flow-based prediction of soil erosion susceptibility maps (SESM)
Abstract Soil erosion, as a natural and complex geomorphological process driven by gravitational forces, wind, and water, results in the displacement and deposition of soil particles, leading to sedimentation in both natural and artificial water bodies, loss of fertile soil, and increased flood risk in vulnerable regions.

Radiocarbon Fingerprinting Black Carbon Source History in the Himalayas
1 Introduction Recent decades have witnessed a persistent decline in Himalayan glaciers (Bhattacharya et al., 2021; Brun et al., 2017; Hugonnet et al., 2021; Yao et al., 2022) (Figure 1). This decline significantly impacts regional water resources by reducing the supply to rivers and catchments. Furthermore, glacier retreat leads to the loss of valuable historical climate information archived within the ice (Huber et al., 2024).

Stimulation of an entorhinal-hippocampal extinction circuit facilitates fear extinction in a post-traumatic stress disorder model
Abstract Effective psychotherapy of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) remains challenging owing to the fragile nature of fear extinction, for which the ventral hippocampal CA1 (vCA1) region is considered as a central hub. However, neither the core pathway nor the cellular mechanisms involved in implementing extinction are known.

Short-Term Disruption of TGFβ Signaling in Adult Mice Renders the Aorta Vulnerable to Hypertension-Induced Dissection
Abstract Hypertension and transient increases in blood pressure from extreme exertion are risk factors for aortic dissection in patients with age-related vascular degeneration or inherited connective tissue disorders. Yet, the common experimental model of angiotensin II-induced aortopathy in mice appears independent of high blood pressure as lesions do not occur in response to an alternative vasoconstrictor, norepinephrine, and are not prevented by co-treatment with a vasodilator, hydralazine.
