Congenital heart disease confers gestational age–dependent risks of mortality and morbidity in preterm infants
Abstract To determine the incremental risks of mortality and major neonatal morbidities associated with congenital heart disease (CHD) beyond prematurity alone. Secondary analysis of two North American neonatal registries (2010–2022) including infants <35 weeks’ gestation: 11,221 with CHD from the Children’s Hospitals Neonatal Consortium and 720,846 without CHD from the Vermont Oxford Network. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Secondary outcomes were major neonatal morbidities.

Development and implementation of educational modules on management of neonates with critical congenital heart disease in the delivery room (LEARN-CHD)
Abstract Neonates with congenital heart disease may require delivery room interventions beyond standard care. Because existing guidelines and educational programs rarely address these needs, we developed and evaluated targeted educational modules. Teams were randomized to online eLearning modules or directed readings. Individual pre-/post-knowledge scores were compared.
Preoperative nutritional strategies for neonates with complex congenital heart disease: a national survey
TO THE EDITOR: Congenital heart disease (CHD) represents the most common birth defect in newborns [1]. Neonates with CHD are at high risk for growth failure due to increased metabolic demands and nutritional barriers [2,3,4]. Inherent obstacles to adequate nutrition may include prematurity, genetic disorders, or extra-cardiac congenital anomalies (e.g., airway and gastrointestinal).
Caffeine for prostaglandin E1-induced apnea in neonates with ductal dependent congenital heart disease: integrating evidence into practice
In clinical practice, PGE₁ is initiated to maintain ductal dependency in certain critical congenital heart lesions, typically at starting dose of 0.01–0.03 micrograms/kilograms/min (mcg/kg/min) [10]. In infants diagnosed postnatally, when the ductus may already be constricting, higher doses or dose escalation may be needed to achieve adequate ductal reopening [10].

The Colossal, Unexpected Career of Nancy Pelosi
After Barack Obama was elected, Pelosi became his essential legislative partner, helping deliver stimulus funding, Obamacare, and Wall Street reform. She also became the GOP’s chief bogeyman: they were eager to make the polarizing San Francisco liberal the face of the Democratic Party, plastering her face in hundreds of millions of dollars of television ads across the country. But the most important message Spanberger sends, in an election that will be closely scrutinized as a bellwether of the second Trump presidency, could be to Democrats. The nomination of a democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, for mayor of New York City has seeded a narrative that the party’s left wing is on the march—a narrative that Republicans have eagerly embraced to paint Democrats as radical.

Trump’s Intel Move Leads to Odd Political Bedfellows
Friday’s news that the U.S. plans to take a 10% stake in Intel is far from the first time President Trump has parted ways with the free-market economic views that once defined the GOP, from his enthusiasm for tariffs to the taking of stakes in companies such as Nippon Steel. Trump Is Losing Political Ground on Immigration

The move has sparked alarm in immigrant communities and street protests in Los Angeles and other cities.
