The wife of media boss Antony Catalano fled the couple's luxury apartment and flagged down a passing car for help, following a sustained attack by her husband that caused her to be hospitalised, police allege. The ABC can reveal full details of the allegations aired against Mr Catalano during a bail application on the night of March 13, after the Magistrates Court of Victoria released a recording of the hearing.

Social media influencers used to promote Melbourne Metro Tunnel opening

Online influencers and train lovers are being used to promote the $15-billion Metro Tunnel ahead of its opening on Sunday. The Victorian government has been escorting influencers and train enthusiasts — known as gunzels — underground for "sneak peak" tours of the five new stations and 9 kilometres of tunnel.

Hundreds of childcare abuse allegations laid bare in Victorian watchdog's report

Hundreds of abuse and misconduct allegations have been made against Victorian childcare workers and early educators in the past year, a new report has revealed. The allegations — related to workers in childcare, family day care, kinder and out-of-school care — include 627 reports of physical violence, 27 of sexual offences and 78 of sexual misconduct. The number of allegations has jumped 84 per cent over the past three years to 705 in 2024-25,and 32 per cent in the last year alone.
