Sleep hours fall as income rises: Macro and micro evidence on sleep inequality around the world
Understanding how the allocation of time among various activities varies with income has been a central question in economics (Becker, 1965, Gronau, 1977, Aguiar and Hurst, 2007, Aguiar et al., 2012). Yet, most research has focused in time spent on work and broad leisure activities, often overlooking sleep—the activity where people spend the majority of their limited time.
Is anchoring at ‘dead’ a theoretical requirement for health state valuation?
1 INTRODUCTION Quality-adjusted life year (QALY) calculation has widely adopted methodological conventions. Single-number scores, called here ‘health state values’ (HSVs), accompany health states described by instruments such as the EQ-5D. HSVs are measured on a scale anchored at 1 meaning ‘full health’, and 0 meaning ‘dead’ or a health state equivalent in value to ‘dead’.
Longitudinal study of patients’ health-related quality of life using EQ-5D-3L in 11 Swedish National Quality Registers
Problems reported on the EQ-5D-3L dimensions Table 2 presents the prevalence of problems reported in the EQ-5D-3L dimensions across NQRs, at baseline and 1-year follow-up. At both time points, similar to the general population, most problems reported were in the pain/discomfort dimension, with the exception of the respiratory failure patients, where most problems reported concerned mobility.

Valuing health‐related quality of life: An EQ‐5D‐5L value set for England
Abstract A new version of the EQ‐5D, the EQ‐5D‐5L, is available. The aim of this study is to produce a value set to support use of EQ‐5D‐5L data in decision‐making. The study design followed an international research protocol. Randomly selected members of the English general public completed 10 time trade‐off and 7 discrete choice experiment tasks in face‐to‐face interviews.

The economics of good health
For a long time, quality of life was regarded as something that couldn’t be measured. Now, health care is shifting toward a greater appreciation of patients’ views and preferences which are very important, and can’t be ignored. Perhaps surprisingly, health economics has contributed strongly to the measurement of patient-reported outcomes. And in the past 20 years we’ve come up with reliable, robust and sensitive measures for those intangible things. It’s a challenging field.

New methods for modelling EQ-5D-5L value sets: An application to English data
Value sets for the EQ-5D-5L are required to facilitate its use in estimating quality-adjusted life years. An international protocol has been developed to guide the collection of stated preference data for this purpose and has been used to generate EQ-5D-5L valuation data for England. The aim of this paper is report the innovative methods used for modelling those data to obtain a value set.
