From the very beginning, this wildly imaginative story will disorient and entangle those willing to take the ride. Author Kendra Shaw lived in Ketchikan and Sitka as a child and now lives in Billings, Montana, where she serves on the city council.

In Aurora Hardy’s case, the answer came as a “fictional biography.” Although her new book never says outright that her novel is anything other than “based on a true story,” a reader might infer that the main character — Sonny — is her own father.
