Nancy Parisi’s Biography

I was born in Buffalo and I'm a proud urban pioneer in the city’s Old First Ward neighborhood. I have the rare distinction of having lived in every part of the city: North Buffalo, east side, west side, OFW, and Black Rock. I'm a full-time journalist and photojournalist and sole proprietor of my successful photo business – Nancy J. Parisi Social Documentation Photography. I earned a BA from University at Buffalo with a degree in English Literature, and photography minor while creating an independent study curricula–via Black Mountain College II–in Arts Management. In 2005 I earned an MFA in photography from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, their first-ever class in the program. A longtime supporter of cultural organizations, I served on the board of CEPA Gallery, as treasurer and then president, for six years, raising $400,000 for the organization including via the biennial art auction that I chaired three times. I'm a long-time contributor to Buffalo Spree Magazine, a correspondent to blogs promoting the Western New York region (Visit Buffalo Niagara included), and is a music reviewer for Buffalo News.
