Why Eric Dane’s Death Made Me Sad, Angry, and Deeply Unsettled

If Eric Dane’s passing wasn’t heartbreaking enough, last night I watched Famous Last Words—the Netflix documentary in which Dane is interviewed by Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story creator (and, yes, Gwyneth Paltrow’s husband). Filmed in early 2025 under the proviso that it would only air after Dane’s death, it sent me spiralling. Dane was 53. A year younger than the father of my two sons—and not much older than me.
