CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Cincinnati Opera is opening its Black Opera Project with an original afrofuturist work set 400 years in the future that celebrates Black storytelling, history, and culture. "Lalovavi," written by librettist Tifara Brown, is the first of three original operas commissioned by Cincinnati Opera to highlight Black joy and positivity. One production will be staged each summer over the next three years.
