1. Introduction Chagas disease (CD) is a life-threatening neglected tropical disease caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi [1]. Transmission primarily occurs through infected hematophagous insects, commonly known as kissing bugs [2,3]. Additionally, T. cruzi can be transmitted through blood transfusion, organ transplantation, consumption of contaminated food or drinks, and from mother to child during pregnancy [4].
