Every day, the desalination industry in the contiguous US rejects about 2 billion gallons of brine (or 7.8 million cubic meters). California, Florida, and Texas are responsible for rejecting more than 70% of the total desalination brine in the contiguous United States. The approximate percentage of brine produced in each state is 40%, 23%, 13%.
