MOREAU KUSUNOKI, Genton, Rory Gardiner, Iwan Baan, Nic Walker · Powerhouse Parramatta
Powerhouse Parramatta is one of the world’s most significant new cultural projects. Located on the banks of the Parramatta River, the future-focused museum is a major new landmark for Australia and a global cultural destination for Western Sydney. The museum is the largest cultural infrastructure project in Australia since the Sydney Opera House, at 30,000 sqm designed by Franco-Japanese architects Moreau Kusunoki (Lead Designer) and Australian architecture firm Genton (Local Architect).

The Wizard of Oz
Published on 14 August 2019 by Jane Albert (words) and Nic Walker (photography) When John Kaldor was 12 years old his mother made a controversial decision: she agreed to let him stop school. She had one proviso: he gain an education in the classics by visiting all the galleries and museums their new city, Paris, had to offer. Mrs Kaldorâs decision was a sage one.
There’s Something About Mary’s
Published on 01 March 2019 by Tristan Lutze (words) and Nic Walker (photography) It’s only been 18 months since the Basement closed, taking 45 years of jazz and other live music history with it. But the build-up of dust and detritus suggests it’s been much longer. In one back room, a worn pinboard is still covered with print-outs of emails, online comments and reviews praising “recent” shows, and a list of dot-points taped to a nearby wall outlines how staff can claim their free post-shift drink.
Identification, Characterization, and Heritability of Murine Metastable Epialleles: Implications for Non-genetic Inheritance
(Cell 175, 1259–1271.e1–e13; November 15, 2018) In the Introduction to this article, we inadvertently neglected to cite Faulk et al., 2013. This study carried out a phylogenetic analysis of the IAPLTR1_Mm subclass of IAP elements, which includes the Avy and CabpIAP loci. The authors show that this family is divided into three clades and provide data suggesting that the younger clades may be enriched for inter-individual methylation variation. This was corrected online on November 7, 2018.
Identification, Characterization, and Heritability of Murine Metastable Epialleles: Implications for Non-genetic Inheritance
Generally repressed by epigenetic mechanisms, retrotransposons represent around 40% of the murine genome. At the Agouti viable yellow (A vy ) locus, an endogenous retrovirus (ERV) of the intracisternal A particle (IAP) class retrotransposed upstream of the agouti coat-color locus, providing an alternative promoter that is variably DNA methylated in genetically identical individuals. This results in variable expressivity of coat color that is inherited transgenerationally.
