The updated meta-analysis by Nelson Wang and colleagues1 confirms our previous findings: (1) standard doses of blood pressure-lowering drugs from different classes lead to similar blood pressure reductions, (2) the effects are additive regardless of combination, (3) blood pressure reductions are greater with higher starting blood pressure, and (4) adding drugs from different classes lowers blood pressure more than increasing the dose of one drug alone.2,3 There is agreement on the evidence...
