CHENEY, Wash. — The City of Cheney has lifted its emergency water restrictions following the successful repair and return to service of Well #3, according to a city announcement. Beginning Monday, July 13, 2026, all customers may resume irrigation activities following the mandatory odd/even irrigation schedule available on the City of Cheney website at CityofCheney.org. City officials encourage residents to continue implementing water conservation strategies and best irrigation practices.

B and O fire evacuation levels reduced as crews battle interior hot spots

OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — Evacuation orders have been downgraded to Level 2 for the B and O Fire as crews continue extinguishing interior hot spots overnight, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management. The fire remains active in several areas. Three primary residences have been confirmed destroyed, according to emergency officials. Damage assessments are ongoing. Okanogan County PUD restored power overnight. Those still without power should contact the utility for assistance.

Spokane breaks ground on all-weather field improvements

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Public Schools and Spokane Parks and Recreation launched construction Thursday on phase one of the Together Spokane all-weather fields project, a voter-approved initiative to expand athletic facilities across the community. The groundbreaking ceremony at Shadle Park High School marked the beginning of work on new field improvements at two high schools.
