Hurley weighs easier accessory dwelling unit approvals and tighter battery storage rules

The Hurley Town Board scheduled a public hearing for June 9 at 6 p.m. on proposed zoning amend ments that include streamlining the approval process for accessory dwelling units and limiting the capacity and location of battery energy storage systems, or BESS. Proposed changes in the zoning code would streamline the accessory dwelling unit (ADU) approval process, cutting it significantly from the two- to four-month timeframe.

Zena Homes development faces legal obstacle as judge rules in favor of Woodstock Land Conservancy

A judge has put the brakes on the proposed Zena Homes subdivision, ruling that the town of Ulster cannot sidestep its duty to say who should review the controversial project. An Ulster County Supreme Court judge granted the Woodstock Land Conservancy’s injunction against the town of Ulster, stopping all review of the proposed 30-lot Zena Homes subdivision until the town officially determines who has jurisdiction.

Woodstock deputy supervisor steps down to take over Oriole 9 restaurant

Daniel Gallant has stepped down as Woodstock’s deputy supervisor and appears poised to take over the Oriole 9 restaurant. Gallant said he was leaving his town role to pursue a business venture involving an establishment but declined to name it. However, a check of town board actions and state records reveals Oriole 9.1 Inc. was granted a waiver of the normal 30-day hold on the town’s consent to a state liquor license application. Oriole 9.1 Inc., at 17 Tinker St., is registered to Gallant.
