It’s “Golf’s Longest Day,” though if we’re being honest, we wish it were longer. It’s not that we’re cruel. Monday’s final qualifying for the U.S. Open has earned the adjective “long” — across 10 sites, players will play 36 holes in hopes of earning a spot in the big dance, which starts Thursday, June 18 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Long Island, N.Y. It’s a grind, no doubt. Thing is, for those of us watching, it’s colorful. The winners and non-winners.
