Penguins head north down 0-2 in Eastern Conference Finals

(WBRE/WYOU) — The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will head to Toronto with their backs against the wall. The Pens head to Canada down 0-2 in the Calder Cup Eastern Conference Finals, after a 2-1 loss in overtime on Friday night. The Penguins trailed for much of the game on Friday night. Toronto once again took advantage of the extra man, scoring the opening goal on the power play. With just over :90 seconds left to play in the 1st period, Toronto’s Alex Nylander scored on the extra man advantage.

WBS Penguins Drop Game 1 of Eastern Conference Finals to Marlies, 4-2 Original

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins allowed a late goal, followed by an empty-netter, to the Toronto Marlies in Game one of the Calder Cup Eastern Conference Finals, losing 4-2 Wednesday night. The loss marks the first time the Penguins have trailed in a series this postseason. Alex Alexeyev opened the scoring for WBS, giving the Penguins a 1-0 lead, before Toronto answered with two straight to grab the lead back.
